The benefits of RPL Qualification

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is a process that assesses the skills you acquired through previous learning and experience to determine if you meet the requirements for a unit of competency.

So, what that means?

Let us say that you have 4 years of experience preparing and administering construction contracts, setting out procedures for construction projects, processes client requirements and other contract and construction work. Also, during the 4 years, you studied short courses related to construction and contract work and you were provided with non-formal and in-formal training.

Then you decided to enrol into the Diploma of Construction Project Management. You have been already doing some of the work that is part of the competencies in the diploma, also you have in-formal training and short courses related to contract and project management in construction.

In this case, you don’t have to study the whole 12 units in the qualification as RPL will assess your expertise and skills against the units in the diploma to shorten the time required to obtain the Diploma of Construction Project Management. You might end up with only 8, 6 or even 4 units to complete, in order to obtain your RPL qualification and that depends on the evidence you provide and the professional conversation that the assessor will conduct with you.

"Recognition of Prior Learning and skills recognition provide numerous benefits for individuals and employers".

RPL assessment will:

  • Foster your employability.

  • Help you meet regulatory requirements.

  • Identify the gaps in your skills and expertise.

  • Reduce the time you spend studying a qualification.

  • Allow you to become eligible for a formal qualification.

  • Boost your confidence in the work filed and grow as a professional individual in your career.

  • Eliminate the duplication in your learning, so you don’t have to repeat the learning if you already have the skills.

  • Provide pathways to one or more qualification and increase your chances of promotion or transition into another job.
