What happens to online education when masks are no longer necessary?

What happens to online education when masks are no longer necessary?

When mask mandates and lockdowns ended, a fair question followed: what happens to all the online education we built in a hurry? Do we simply return to the classroom and forget it?

Keep what worked

The rushed shift online was imperfect, but it proved some things clearly. Recorded lectures let students revisit difficult material. Flexible scheduling opened study to people with jobs and caring responsibilities. Digital assessment gave faster feedback. None of that value disappears when the masks come off.

The future is blended

The strongest model is not fully online or fully in person, it is blended. Use face to face time for discussion, practice and connection, and use online delivery for content, flexibility and reach. The institutions that keep the best of both will come out ahead.
