Skills Leap Australia wants everyone to be able to use www.skillsleapaus.com.au, whatever technology they use and however they interact with it. We build accessible learning for a living, so we hold this website to the same standard we ask of our clients' courses and platforms: the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
What this site does today
- Semantic landmarks (header, navigation, main content and footer) and a "Skip to content" link at the top of every page.
- Navigation and menus that can be operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
- Text colour contrast of at least 4.5:1 against its background is our target; we fix any instance that falls short as we find it.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images; decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
- Captions on the explainer animations we produce.
- Respect for your reduced-motion setting: animation and smooth scrolling are switched off when your system asks for it.
Known limitations
We are still working on the following. Where we can, we offer an alternative.
- Third-party embeds. The YouTube and Vimeo video players and the Google Maps embeds on our Contact page are supplied by those companies and may not fully conform. Our office addresses are also listed as text on the Contact page and in our privacy policy.
- Older PDF downloads. Some older PDF documents may not be tagged for screen readers. If you need the content of a PDF in another format, ask us and we will do our best to provide it.
